When searching for answers on how to flatten your stomach, there is so much information that is inaccurate or just plain wrong.  It is easy to become frustrated, but don’t let that stop you from achieving the flat stomach you want.  The methods to get great abs are simple and straightforward.  Magazines and infomercials will have you believing you need a specific pill or gadget, but all you need is knowledge and determination.

Nutrition

When learning how to flatten your stomach, nutrition is probably the biggest, and most overlooked, key to success.  Nutrition is so simple, yet so many “gurus” have tried to make it complicated.  The food you eat is the fuel for your body.  If you eat like crap, you will feel like crap, and look like crap.  It really is that simple.  Eat only foods that you can find in nature:  lean meats, fruits, vegetables, eggs, non fat dairy, etc.

Avoid foods that are highly processed, foods with added sugar, or foods full of fat.  A lot of people already know this, they just want to believe that you can exercise, eat almost anything you want, and still get great looking abs.  You can eat as much of the fruits and vegetables as you want.  Just make sure you are eating whole fruits and vegetables, not the canned variety that has tons of added sugar or sodium.

Intervals

Exercise is another major factor when trying to figure out how to flatten your stomach.  Interval training has been shown to be about the best way to lose stomach fat.  Instead of working the treadmill or pounding the pavement at the same pace for 45 minutes, intervals consist of periods of high intensity exercise, followed by a period of lower intensity exercise.  This can be done with almost any exercise you can think of:  weight training, body weight calisthenics, or running.

The idea of interval training is to work your body harder than your previous workout.  Don’t feel as though you have to kill yourself during intervals, but you should try to increase your intensity each workout.  If you ran 10 sprints of twenty-five yards in 10 minutes, next time try to run 10 sprints of 30 yards in 10 minutes.  This is just an example, and there are many variations to increase the intensity of intervals.

Intensity

Intensity of you workout is the last key to learning how to flatten your stomach.  If the word intensity scares you, it shouldn’t.  Intensity is based on the fitness level of each person.  An individual who can only walk 100 feet in 1 minute shouldn’t try sprinting right away.  Instead, try to walk 125 feet in 1 minute.  Build on each workout, and you will soon have an intensity level that you can be proud of.  The key is to just try to improve each workout.  Continue to challenge yourself, and you will lose the fat from your body.

Knowing how to flatten your stomach is not complicated.  But it will take some work.  If you will follow these guidelines, you will lose the stomach fat.  You won’t have to hide it with certain clothing, or be afraid to wear that bathing suit.  That fat belly will be gone.
