How to Build Muscle Fast

With the New Year just around the corner, many of us are starting to think about our New Year’s resolutions.  Most people will put losing weight or getting fit at the top of their resolution list.  If you are one of these people then you may be interested in learning how to build muscle fast.  Building muscle is very important in weight loss, because muscle burns fat.

Building muscle is fairly simple if you know how to exercise effectively.  The key to building muscle fast is by using compound exercises.  Compound exercises use more than one joint at a time during the exercise.  Some example of compound exercises include squats, rows and presses.  These exercises will work more than one muscle at a time.  Exercises that work only one joint at a time are called isolation exercises and include exercises like bicep curls and leg extensions.

When performing these exercises, it is very important that you learn how to do each movement correctly.  Doing them incorrectly can lead to injury.  Also, use your best judgement when adding weight or intensity to any workout.  Adding “too much too soon” will leave you sore for days, and possibly lead to injury.

Another key factor in how to build muscle fast is knowing the frequency of your workouts.  Everytime you complete a work out you will go through a period of muscle soreness, which is generally delayed by a day or two.  This is perfectly normal and is to be expected, especially when you first begin and new workout routine.  You will want to repeat your exercise routine only 24-48 hours after the soreness has set in.  Allowing your body to recover after each workout will help you to build muscle.  Doing too much exercising without any recovery will impede on your muscle growth.

Diet also plays an important role in building muscle.  You should consume adequate amounts of protein every 3 to 4 hours and drink plenty of water.  Sleep is also very important in building muscle.  A lot of your recovery and growth happens while you sleep so you should get 7 – 9 hous of sleep per night.  Getting enough sleep also helps to maintain weight and energy.

So if you have been looking to learn how to build muscle fast, these simple steps will help you to be on your way to building the body you have been dreaming about.
